The PickUP Digital SEO Agency* Process

As part of the PickUP Digital SEO service we aim to bring our clients on a journey with us towards improving your website’s organic visibility by enhancing the 4 key areas that Google (and other search engines) look for in a website:

    • Experience
    • Expertise
    • Authority
    • Trust

There are a huge number of factors to consider when optimising your website for search – whilst there are some factors that are more applicable to some organisations than others (Google News for websites publishing timely content, Google Business Profile for local services, hreflang tags for global sites with multiple regions/languages), there are 3 fundamental pillars that are consistent across almost any website:

    Technical SEO

Technical SEO (or “crawlability”) provides the foundation of your future SEO success – by ensuring your site is indexable, crawlable, free from broken links and provides a strong user experience with quick load times, you can ensure you have the best possible chance of attracting traffic & leads through your target keywords.

    On-Page Optimisation

Once your site is technically sound, you need to ensure your content appears relevant to the keywords you’re looking to rank for – this involves keyword research to establish search behaviour/trends, and then various techniques to optimise your content in order to provide Google with the required Expertise, Authorithy and Trust!

    Off-Site SEO

Your website’s perceived “authority” will have an impact on your likelihood of outranking competitors, particularly for competitive keywords – by acquiring links from authoritative sources, you can begin to see your keywords rise through the rankings, attracting more traffic for each position increase.

What Makes Us Different from other “SEO Agencies”?

You’ve seen all the above before (sorry about that!) – you want to know what makes us different from other agencies that offer SEO as a service.

We mentioned an SEO “ Journey”... What do we mean by that?

Contrary to common belief, search engine optimisation is not (in most cases) a service that can be simply outsourced to an external provider to provide short-term results – it requires collaboration across a number of different parties over a period of time… Yes, we have the technical expertise and experience to be able to guide your strategy and we have a huge number of tactics at our disposal to allow us to work independently towards improving your online visibility in the short-term, but in order to achieve the best long-term success from your organic search strategy it will benefit from collaboration with:

    Yourself!

You know your business and your customers better than anyone, and you will likely have industry contacts that we can leverage to maximise chances of attracting backlinks, citations, reviews, endorsements etc

    Your Developers

(whether they be in-house or an agency) – many of the technical optimisation techniques will require developer input. Don’t worry though… We’re not in the business of delivering a templated “Technical SEO Audit” and then sending it across thinking “it’s their problem now” – we will provide prioritised recommendations and discuss them in detail with your developers, assessing which changes are doable and which aren’t; which are quick fixes and which will require additional resource – we like to think we take a pragmatic approach to technical optimisation. Of course there are many technical tasks we can carry out ourselves, particularly if you are using a CMS such as WordPress which has a huge number of plugins available to help streamline workflow.

    Your Sales Team

(or whoever interacts directly with your customers) – these are the people that are most likely to be familiar with the questions and concerns that your customers face, which can be a goldmine for content ideas. Combined with our proactive keyword research, we can produce search-friendly content to help enhance your “experience”, “expertise” and “authority” within your field.

    Your Marketing Team

(or whoever looks after your Organic Social and Email channels) – by collaborating with these people we can understand the tone of your brand, any seasonal events or campaigns that you have planned, and we can again work to create content that works alongside the rest of your marketing efforts.

Through collaboration with some or all of the above parties, we can put together a strategic plan of activity that will generate incremental growth in organic traffic over time, allowing us to stay visible and proactive in our approach.

The other thing we mean by “journey” is that we pride ourselves on our ability to ensure that our clients have full understanding of both what we’re up to and why. In the vast majority of cases our clients are not SEO professionals themselves, and whilst they will normally have some level of understanding of what’s involved, we aim to educate clients in the most important fundamentals of the channel. We take huge pride in our levels of communication and visibility, and we are able to explain complex theories in ways that our clients can understand. We are here to work with you.

Oh, and we’re pretty experienced too!

All of our SEO professionals have a minimum of 5 years of agency-side SEO experience, meaning they have seen trends come and go, and they have worked across a wide variety of industries, verticals, local vs national vs global companies, B2C, B2B, non-profit organisations etc.

We have a true passion for the exciting, ever-changing nature of the discipline and we all experiment with methods and strategies in our own time and on our own websites. This means we are always up to date with the latest changes in trends, and we’re able to apply those learnings when working with our clients (without them having to be the guinea pigs!).

    We are mostly remote

One of the reasons we are able to set such high standards for our SEO Specialists is that whilst we all live locally, we work mostly remotely, meaning that we don’t have the same overheads as a typical SEO agency. It also means that we don’t have the same distractions and are able to optimise our own time, allowing us to achieve more in a given time period.
